And then I closed the window. I choose to save the state instead of power off. Now it crashes when I try to bring it back. You live, you learn. I'll re-install and not choose 'save state' anymore Posts: 5 Joined: 9. Aug 2007, 10:08.

I used this for both Win95 and Win98 in my VirtualBox installation (4.1.18 on Win7 x64). Seems to work great for the most part, but unfortunately it hoses the whole screen when I attempt to open a command prompt in either VM. By default Windows 98 will run only in 640x480 resolution, 16-colors. Performance Note: VirtualBox is not optimized for 16-colors (4-bit) emulation. It works very slow this way.

I couldn't find this in the user manual, the FAQ or the forums I browsed; if there's a place I should have looked, please let me know! I'm trying to set up a Win98SE guest and having the known problems with graphics, sound, and high CPU use. I see fixes for all of these in the forums; they involve installing drivers. Alas, folder sharing isn't supported for Win98. How in the world are all you folks getting the drivers into the guest's disk to install them?

As I said, this is probably obvious to everyone but me! TIA Posts: 10 Joined: 16. Aug 2007, 19:18. I've heard lots of good things about Scitech Display Doctor v7, and it does indeed give me nice graphics (24-bit, 1024x768) in my Win98SE guest under WinXP host. Only problem is that it's a trial version that expires in 21 days and nags relentlessly.

There doesn't seem to be any way to purchase it, since Scitech no longer offers or supports it. They offer earlier versions free (with published registration codes) at but I can't get them to work. I suspect that this discontinued v7 beta has a 'free use' registration code published somewhere, but I can't find it on Scitech's site. Does anyone using Scitech Display Doctor v7 know how to register it?

Is there any other way to get nice graphics? The site owner published his registration code (for v7 beta) there, and if you get the ISO image (the ZippyShare mirror is the only one that works at the time of this writing) the code is in a text file inside the ISO image. Use Sci-Tech Display Doctor version 7 beta. Major Geeks has it. Go to the Sci-Tech website and access their discontinued downloads where you'll be able to download the product keys for the older versions. They're giving them away. Perfectly legal. I've read that the same key for the last version 6 that they offer can also be used successfully on the 7 beta. You install the version 7 beta, restart Windows, and in Device Manager update the standard pci graphics adapter (VGA) to the Sci-Tech one in the list that appears when you choose to install a different driver and scroll through the Display Adapters to the Sci-Tech Corporation drivers.
