Realtek Alc892 Windows 10 Driver
Unfortunately I already tried that. It does not appear to be a driver problem.
It appears to be a problem with Cortana selecting the wrong output device despite the sound control panel settings. I have reproduced this with the Realtek hardware turned off. Thanks for the idea, however. Your approach does fix an audio problem that I had a couple of builds ago. Good solution. Different problem. Okay, we got to the bottom of it.
Realtek Alc892 Windows 10 Driver
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and Windows 10 I am running Windows 10 Pro, version 1709, build 16229.125 and have built in Realtek High Definition Audio. Since this version was installed, I have no sound at all.
As you suspected, there was a problem with how Cortana's voice was getting routed. We've checked in a fix. It'll be a while before you see it (i.e.
It won't be in the next build you receive) but I am planning on testing it with the same hardware to confirm that it solves the issue. Thanks again! There must be some other variable (e.g. Daemon tools lite xp download. Which Realtek you have), since that driver worked for me on 10049 and continues to on 10061. Note: While I did use Setup and endured the usual double-boot routine that Setup requires, afterwards I checked the date and version of the Realtek driver in DevMan and found that it hadn't actually updated (it should have a very new date). All the other components had (in Program Files there are a number of EXEs and supporting files).

So you need to extract the driver dir and manually update it in DevMan (in addition to having earlier done the double-boot Setup routine). Not sure if that will help in your case though. Well, since Cortana remains mute on my machine can you recommend a troubleshooting strategy? I am about out of ideas. The only thing I can think of is that my multiple soundcard installation is part of the problem.
