I'm a digital artist/illustrator looking to upgrade from my Intuos Pro tablet to a pen display, and I'm wondering what you folks think would be the best option to upgrade to for someone who works primarily in Photoshop. The 22HD is quite a bit more affordable than the Pro 24 at the moment and seems like a strong, reliable option that is still being used by quite a few game studios today. However, it's a bit on the older side now and the newer Pro 24 offers 4K resolution while boasting a larger screen size and less parallax issues.

My question is, are these differences worth the ~$500 price difference? If there's anyone out there who's had experience dealing with both and/or can provide me with a list of some pros and cons, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks:) • • • • •. I have both, the 22' is a tank, it'll last for years. The 24' is the new style, i dunno if it'll be as robust, the fan means it has moving parts and i'm a little worried about the edge to edge glass, but it performs terrifically. If you draw in mainly in line work, the 4k REALLY makes a difference, like night and day different.

But if you paint or rely less on line weight the HD will be solid. Honestly i've never had a problem with parallax, the eye just gets used to it wacom do eventually drop support for older cintiqs, i had a (20?

Can't remember) that still worked but had been dropped by the drivers hope that's useful. Btw, over a five year plus lifespan, that $500 looks less important • • • •. I might be coming from a different place, since I just placed an order for a 24' pro so I'm clearly already sold on them, but I would not in a million years think twice about your decision. The cintiq range has been critically gimped by pathetic DPI for years now, the 22 is apparently fairly solid, but the build quality on the new pros is immediately and clearly miles ahead of it.

Mediocre resolution in an industry that is increasingly creating content for insanely high DPI mediums is the biggest dealbreaker here and easily worth the price difference alone, but let's not forget Wacom's biggest weakness - drivers. I can't comment on latest gen pro drivers yet, but I'm going to take a leap of faith and say you're better off with the current gen than hanging on to their salty old drivers, save yourself some headache. I used the 13HD for multiple years and even on the smaller physical display, 1080 looks pathetic. I constantly have to preview work on higher res displays as I work, and the 22 is just the same thing blown up a bit.
